Review of the Wine Tasting Event 2008

I thought I knew my red wines (after all, I drink enough of it!!) however after three glasses of champagne during the welcome drinks, two glasses of white wine to taste and one tasting glass of rose my taste buds and judgement became somewhat impaired and we lost the chance to winthe case of champagne awarded to the winning table!

However, these things are all about the taking part and I'm certain that everyone at the event thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and even got to learn a few things about wine along the way! We started at 6pm with champagne and canapes on the terrace overlooking the Thames and moved inside at about 7pm for 1.5 hours of blind wine tasting. We learnt how to identify wine by colour, aroma, alcohol content and even learnt a few tips on how to guess a wine's vintage. Once the winning group was announced and the champagne prize was distributed those that were interested had a tour of the wine cellar before going back up to the terrace to continue the evening. We've received some excellent feedback from clients and it offered a fantastic forum for team building and developing the relationship between client and consultant.

This evening event was very enjoyable and presented a marvellous opportunity to meet the rest of the Mortimer Spinks team and understand their challenges and drive in achieving their business goals while adding value to their clients. It also gave us a platform to exchange ideas with other Mortimer Spinks clients in the recruitment process; ideas such as using the excellent Mortimer Spinks service of interviewing & testing candidates were discussed and agreed as adding significant value to the selection process while reducing risk.

Of course, it also gave a clear message of how complex but great fun the Wine industry is!

We had a great time at the wine tasting evening – it was fabulous fun and even better than last year. We will be enjoying our winnings and will be going for a “hat trick” next year! Many thanks to Mortimer Spinks for laying on such an enjoyable event.

The venue was unique, the sommelier (I think that’s what he was) informative and entertaining. A really nice way to spend an evening for those interesting in improving or learning about wine and rewarding from building new Business contacts.
